Governing Council: Combined Report of Action Pertaining to Adult Skaters

- Rules go into effect September 1, 2005
- Grandfathering rules
- If you passed figure tests before October 1, 1977, you may be interested in some slight changes in the grandfathering rules
- New Pre-Bronze Moves in the Field Requirements
- Alternating Forward Three-Turns are NO LONGER REQUIRED!!!
- They have been replaced with a waltz eight and a new forward three turn pattern
- New Silver Moves in the Field Requirements
- Inside slide chasse replaced with forward and backward power pulls (see pre-juvenile moves pattern #5)
- New Gold Moves in the Field Requirements
- Backward perimeter stroking with back inside and forward inside "rolling" three turns replaced with inside slide chasse pattern (see intermediate moves pattern #5)
- New Pre-Bronze Requirements/Description for Freeskating (Competitions)
- Jumps: No lutz, axel or double jumps permitted
- Jump combinations: None required
- Spins: Minimum of two spins, 3+ revolutions each
- New Masters Freeskating Program Durations
- Maximum duration of programs increased by 30 seconds at each level
- Corrects a technical problem which resulted in skaters making one program two different lengths so they could compete in different types of events (qualifying and non-qualifying)
- New AGELimits and Class Designations
- Adult competitors need to be 21 years of age (lower than the previous requirement of 25)
- Class I: 21-28 years
- Class II: 29-35 years
- Class III: 36-45 years
- Class IV: 46-55 years
- Class V: 56 years and over
- No Double Dipping
- You can't enter an adult qualifying competition and a regular qualifying competition (the ones with the kids) in the same event (e.g. freeskating, dance, etc) in the same year

- Ages will be 30-65
- 125 athletes representing 10 countries are registered to compete
- Using the new ISU judging system

- Likely to be used at Adult Nationals in 2006-2007
- Program content sheets will be needed (sheets given to judges before the competition describing the planned elements in your program)
- Interpretive program judging system yet to be determined; may use the old 6.0 system or just the program components marks from the new system

Passing averages for Adult and Masters dance tests have been changed. Adult dance tests are an option for skaters over 25 years of age. Masters dance tests are an option for skaters over 50 years of age. In both cases, solos are not required and the passing marks are lower than standard tests at the same level. These changes provide an opportunity for adult skaters to progress through new, interesting and more difficult dances.
