The CCSC Award

Each year the CCSC Award is given to the club member who has shown Dedication-Service-Support to CCSC and its membership. This should be a person who goes above and beyond the call to support the club and its members. The CCSC Award is usually given at the Spring General Membership Meeting.

This year's recipients were Sonia and Brittany Clark. Sonia and Brittany worked all three days at the 2008 Central Carolina Skating Classic in the Accounting room! Visit the Awards page for past recipients.

Changing of the Guard

Elections for the 2008-2009 CCSC Board had some big changes for the club.

Kevin Elvin: After 13 years of service to CCSC (which inspired the "Kevin Elvin Award" given out each year at the Central Carolina Skating Classic), Kevin steps down from the board. It would be impossible to list the important contributions that Kevin has given to CCSC. A huge thank you to Kevin for all the hard, endless work, valuable knowledge, and awesome inspiration he's given these years. Most of us can't begin to realize just how many hours Kevin has given, how many important ideas he's come up with to help make the club what it is today.

New President: Bonnie Boaz is staying on the CCSC Board as an officer (Treasurer) but will be replaced as President by Shelley Faucette. Bonnie is another original member of the club that has given so much and we're glad to have her take on the important responsibility as the club's treasurer. Thank you, Bonnie!

Kathy Ridpath: After only 4 years on the CCSC Board, three of those as Treasurer, Kathy Ridpath is stepping down from the board. Her daughter, Megan, is going off to Canada to train and will also be entering her second year of college so Kathy won't be spending much time near the ice as she transitions to an "empty nester."

New Officers and Board Members: The elections ushered in one new officer, Karen McClure, who will be the CCSC Secretary. Shelley Faucette steps in as President, Doug Scott will continue as Vice President, and Bonnie Boaz is shifting over to be the Treasurer. Two new board members were elected: Lorraine Reers (mom to Sarah Reers) and Becky Lenchek (mom to Aaron Lenchek and also an adult skater). All the best to the 2008-2009 CCSC Board!
