Club NoteThe last test session of the 2009-2010 membership year is set for Sunday, June 13th at the Triangle SportsPlex in Hillsborough, NC.

The Helen M. McLoraine Figure Skating Scholarship Program

Membership

The Central Carolina Skating Club, Inc. (CCSC), is a member club (#497) of US Figure Skating. CCSC was established in July 1995. Its headquarters is at the Triangle SportsPlex in Hillsborough, NC. CCSC is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization because of its support of the US Figure Skating mission to "provide programs that encourage participation and achievement in the sport of figure skating."

Purposes of CCSC are to:

  • Encourage the instruction, practice, and advancement of the members in compulsory figures, free skating, pair skating, dancing, synchronized moves in the field, and all types of figure skating;
  • Encourage and cultivate a spirit of fraternal feeling among ice skaters;
  • Sponsor, produce, or cooperate in the production of amateur ice carnivals and shows;
  • Generally do and perform such other acts as may be necessary, advisable, proper or incidental in the realization of the objects and purposes of this organization;
  • Carry out the general policies and objectives of US Figure Skating; and
  • Help promote and assist in the continuation of the Triangle SportsPlex.

Membership Categories:

Senior Membership: Senior members shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age. This class shall be further subdivided into Senior Eligible, Senior Ineligible, and Senior Restricted. The Senior Eligible member, in addition to the privileges authorized by the US Figure Skating By-Laws, shall have the right to vote, hold office and shall enjoy all the privileges of CCSC. In accordance with the US Figure Skating By-Laws, a Senior Ineligible Member has the right to vote, but may not hold office. One Senior Ineligible Member may be a Governor with a vote on the Board of Governors. The Senior Restricted Member has a vote, but may not hold office, or be a Governor. Senior members are eligible to receive monetary support from CCSC and to receive a rulebook.

Senior Couple Membership: Senior Couple Membership will consist of two Senior members from the same family. These two members shall have voting rights. Senior Couple members are eligible to receive monetary support from CCSC and to receive one rulebook per membership.

Junior w/Parent Membership: Junior with Parent Membership will consist of one Junior skater (under the age of eighteen (18) years of age and shall not vote nor hold office, nor be a Governor) and one Parent of the Junior skater. The Parent shall have voting rights. Junior with Parent members are eligible to receive monetary support from CCSC and to receive one rulebook per membership.

Family Membership: Family members can be any combination of Senior or Junior members. Only Senior members shall have voting rights. All members in a Family membership are eligible to receive monetary support from CCSC and to receive one rulebook per membership.

Collegiate Membership: Collegiate members shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age. This class shall be held to the same restrictions and receive the same benefits as Senior members. Individuals who are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs are eligible for this membership. Collegiate memberships are valid for four calendar years. Collegiate memberships initiated in the 2009-2010 fiscal year shall be valid through June 30, 2013. Collegiate members are eligible to vote, receive monetary support from CCSC and will receive a rulebook upon request. An individual can only use the Collegiate option once in their lifetime with US Figure Skating.

Introductory Membership: Introductory members shall only have voting rights if they are Senior members. They are first time full members with US Figure Skating and CCSC. They will include any Basic Skills members that are joining as full US Figure Skating members. Introductory members will not receive monetary support from CCSC and will not receive a rulebook.

Associate Membership: Associate members must be a home club member of another club. Associate members cannot vote, hold office, receive funding from the CCSC, nor get a rulebook.

Basic Skills Membership: Basic Skills members shall not vote, nor hold office, nor be a governor. They shall only be able to test Basic Skills levels and must become a full US Figure Skating member to test any Adult, Pre-Preliminary, or higher test. They may skate in all carnivals and exhibitions hosted by CCSC.

New Collegiate Membership Category

CCSC is adding a Collegiate Membership category this year. Collegiate members shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age. This category shall be held to the same restrictions and receive the same benefits as Senior members. Individuals who are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs are eligible for this membership. Collegiate memberships are valid for four calendar years. Collegiate memberships initiated in the 2009-2010 fiscal year shall be valid through June 30, 2013. Collegiate members are eligible to vote, receive monetary support from CCSC and will receive a rulebook upon request. An individual can only use the Collegiate option once in their lifetime with US Figure Skating.

Rulebooks By Request

May 31, 2009

CCSC will provide, free of cost to members, the CD version of the USFSA rulebook upon request ONLY. The deadline to request the CD version of the USFSA rulebook is 10/15/2009. If a member would like a hard copy version, this costs an additional $12. When filling out your CCSC membership application, please indicate whether you would like the rulebook and pay an extra $12 if you would like the hard copy version.

U.S. Figure Skating Coaching Membership Designation, Fee, and Qualifications

During the 2008 Governing Council in May 2008, U.S. Figure Skating added new membership requirements for coaches which includes additional registration as a coach, an additional coach registration fee, and proof of insurance. Read more ...

Junior Only Membership Category Eliminated

December 7, 2005

On Tuesday, December 6, 2005, the CCSC Board voted to eliminate the category of Junior Membership from the membership options.

501(c)(3) Designation and Increased Skater Support

With our new 501(c)(3) designation we will be able to increase our support for development activities for all our members from beginner to adult.
