The Central Carolina Skating Club, Inc. (CCSC), is a member club (#497) of US Figure Skating. CCSC was established in July 1995. Its headquarters is at the Orange County SportsPlex in Hillsborough, NC. CCSC is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization because of its support of the US Figure Skating mission to “provide programs that encourage participation and achievement in the sport of figure skating.”

  • All memberships are valid from July 1st, 2023 to June 30th, 2024.
  • Skaters planning to test or compete during July and August must renew their memberships before registering for the event.
  • Coaches are eligible for a discounted Professional membership as part of their full compliance with US Figure Skating. (Insurance, SafeSport, Background Check, Continuing Education Requirements/CER’s.) Purposes of CCSC are to:

  • Encourage the instruction, practice, and advancement of the members in compulsory figures, free skating, pair skating, dancing, synchronized moves in the field, and all types of figure skating;
  • Encourage and cultivate a spirit of fraternal feeling among ice skaters;
  • Sponsor, host or cooperate in the offering of test sessions, competitions or shows;
  • Generally do and perform such other acts as may be necessary, advisable, proper or incidental in the realization of the objects and purposes of this organization;
  • Carry out the general policies and objectives of US Figure Skating; and
  • Help promote and assist in the continuation of the Orange County SportsPlex.

Membership Categories

Coach (Compliant) Membership: This category is for coaches who will also be completing the USFS Coaches registration, background screening, Continuing Education Requirements (CERs) and can provide proof of liability insurance​. (For requirements, see: US Figure Skating Web Page and Email to All Coaches) Professional Members may vote, hold office and be a Governor. They are also eligible to receive monetary support from CCSC.

Senior Membership: Senior members shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age. This class shall be further subdivided into Senior Eligible, Senior Ineligible, and Senior Restricted. The Senior Eligible member, in addition to the privileges authorized by the US Figure Skating By-Laws, shall have the right to vote, hold office and shall enjoy all the privileges of CCSC. In accordance with the US Figure Skating By-Laws, a Senior Ineligible Member has the right to vote, but may not hold office. One Senior Ineligible Member may be a Governor with a vote on the Board of Governors. The Senior Restricted Member has a vote, but may not hold office, or be a Governor. Senior members are eligible to receive monetary support from CCSC.

Senior Couple Membership: Senior Couple Membership will consist of two Senior members from the same family. These two members shall have voting rights. Senior Couple members are eligible to receive monetary support from CCSC.

Junior w/Parent Membership: Junior with Parent Membership will consist of one Junior skater (under the age of eighteen (18) years of age and shall not vote nor hold office, nor be a Governor) and one Parent of the Junior skater. The Parent shall have voting rights. Junior with Parent members are eligible to receive monetary support from CCSC.

Family Membership: Family members can be any combination of Senior or Junior members. Only Senior members shall have voting rights. All members in a Family membership are eligible to receive skater support-activity grants from CCSC.

Collegiate Membership: Collegiate members shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age. This class shall be held to the same restrictions and receive the same benefits as Senior members. Individuals who are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs are eligible for this membership. Collegiate memberships are valid for four calendar years. Collegiate members are eligible to vote, receive monetary support from CCSC. An individual can only use the Collegiate option once in their lifetime with US Figure Skating.

Introductory Membership: Introductory members shall only have voting rights if they are Senior members. They are first time full members with US Figure Skating and CCSC. They will include any Basic Skills members that are joining as full US Figure Skating members. Introductory members will not receive monetary support from CCSC.

Associate Membership: Associate members must be a home club member of another club. Associate members cannot vote, hold office, receive funding from the CCSC.

Learn to Skate USA (LTS USA) Membership: Learn to Skate USA members shall not vote, nor hold office, nor be a governor. They shall be evaluated for LTS USA levels and must become a full US Figure Skating member to test any Adult, Pre-Preliminary, or higher test. They may skate in all carnivals and exhibitions hosted by CCSC. (Formerly Basic Skills)

Volunteer Reminder

A membership renewal discount of $5 per volunteer hour will be calculated upon renewal the following season. The maximum discount will be $50 for Family or Junior w/ Parent memberships (10 volunteer hours,) and $25 for single or Senior memberships. (10 and 5 hours of volunteerism during the July – June season.)

Skater support activity grants are issued to qualified renewing members after the end of the fiscal year in June. To qualify, Family or Junior w/ Parent members need to acquire 20 volunteer hours per season to qualify for skater support. Single or Senior members are required to provide 10 volunteer hours over the prior season to be eligible for skater support.
